Margate, United Kingdom 69 contributions 38 helpful votes. Quirky, comfortable and friendly We stayed here for one night, and booked 2 rooms. We arrived early and were able to check in without a problem - both of our rooms were upgraded, one to a fantastic suite which was a real treat for my mother in law.
Check in was quick, easy and friendly. There's no doubt about it, this place is flamboyantly decorated - love it or loath it, there has been no expense spared. The rooms are really comfortable, spotlessly clean and great bathrooms with rain showers and massive baths. My only gripe, is that you need a degree in electronics to get all of the lights off when it's time to sleep!
Breakfast was good - really friendly service. Location is great too, We had no issues with noise. Bar was really nice for a nightcap - good selection of drinks, great service and reasonably priced. All in all I enjoyed staying here because it is different. Service is good too. The only issue for me would be that the decor isn;t quite to my taste, but when all is said and done it is a really good hotel in a great little town.

Money seems no option, extrovert and extravagant, around each corner is another opportunity for a picture. Went for lunch as a walk in 7 but this was taken in ease by staff who got us a table toot sweet. The chef supplied us with a tasting platter of glorious goodies to whet our appetite and that it did. Wings to start with moreish blue cheese dip and salted chilli chicken to follow, a simple yet tasty wack of grub.

Cocktails in the beautiful rooftop garden, dark and stormy was my choice but it's only sunshine I can see on the horizon of this place. Not worth the money!
We were really looking forward to a luxurious treat and travelled especially to stay here on a Sunday evening whilst visiting Northern Ireland. On arrival the smell of fryer fat was over powering and the lift up to our room of damp. Our room door was wide open with a dehumidifier sitting in the middle of the room on a chair. After trying to relax the heat was overwhelming so we asked to be moved to another room which although perfectly clean and massive had a generator or fan noise constantly humming away as if in an aeroplane or on a ship.
I asked about this also and was told it was the kitchen fans and they would be off at 9pm.

Although we had planned a chilled out evening in the hotel we ventured along the street for a meal and returned around 7 the fan did go off about 9 but another fan noise although quieter was still very much apparent and we lay with the television on sleep timer until we could get to sleep. We arrived and left underwhelmed and disappointed. A waste of hard earned money. Trip type: Travelled as a couple.
