I read this book because I came across it while weeding the library. Liking historical fiction, it looked interesting. I liked the book. It is part of a trilogy which I didn't realize until after I started the book, it is the second in the trilogy. The book can be read without reading the first.

The story gives a good feel of life in the wilderness in the early s New York. I liked the dialogue and the way the author made you feel like you were in the story. I especially like the author notes I read this book because I came across it while weeding the library. I especially like the author notes in the back of the book which gives historical perspective to the story. Good read if you like historical fiction.
